Why come to the DMV? Those in high school are at a very impressionable age. With society continually slipping away from a Biblical standard, Youth Group is an opportunity to further disciple believers and can also have an evangelistic/outreach aspect to lead unbelievers to Christ.
Our goal is to encourage the high school youth at Discovery Baptist to hunger and thirst for righteousness and seek first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness while trusting in the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
*A few points of focus:
Youth group lesson will work in conjunction with the HS Sunday school lesson
Proper exposition of the Word of God
Focus on discipleship
Fun activities to create stronger relationships (not primary emphasis)
Family oriented activities
A devoted prayer life for both students and leaders
Sunday School will focus on Scripture and context, while the Youth Group meetings concentrate on the life application of those scriptures. Our goal is to equip our students for “life after high school,” and to prepare them to apply Biblical truth and scripture to the tough questions and trials they will face.
Our goals are to:
Draw the students to Jesus and to their parents
Be faithful to deliver and expose the truths of the Word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit
Work diligently on Scripture memorization
Be consistently communicating with parents
Equip students to desire to know God more
Emphasize the importance of prayer
End objective: What do we want our students to graduate with?
A true understanding and love of the Word of God
A desire to serve in the church
A hunger and thirst for righteousness
Knowledge of how to be a faithful husband or wife
Understanding of how to work in the world
Build healthy and lasting relationships
